CO2 extract of ginger and peppermint
|
| Counteracts nausea and vomiting |
| Ginger and peppermint are two plants traditionally used for problems with the digestive system for centuries. Gingerol from ginger, a chemical compound related to capsaicin from chilli peppers, prevents spasms of the smooth muscles of the digestive system, while supporting bile secretion. It is also a powerful and effective agent against infection and nausea. The Commission E recognises in addition the medicinal use of the rhizome of the ginger plant for treating digestive problems (dyspepsia) and preventing nausea caused by travel sickness. Peppermint, a reputed digestive tonic, also prevents spasms of the intestine and nausea, and aids digestion. The combination of the best active ingredients from these plants effectively prevents nausea and vomiting, connected with travel sickness, chemotherapy or pregnancy. |

Benefit:
The active ingredients that make up our product are “CO2 extracted” peppermint leaves and ginger root. CO2 extraction [see definition] is a gentle technical process which allows the recovery by cold-pressing of all intact essential plant oils, as well as the more fragile of their other constituents (such as gingerols from ginger for example, so sensitive to rises in temperature) |

| Detailed information |
Ginger which is renowned for its stimulating properties on the body, improves intestinal motility. Its principal ingredient is gingerol, a chemical compound which is related to the capsaicin found in red peppers. Ginger acts by preventing spasms in the smooth muscles of the digestive system, while promoting the secretion of bile. (ref1)
As an anti-infective, it also inhibits the proliferation of certain bacteria or other parasites known to infect the human digestive tract (ref2 and ref3)
It is in fact a very efficient anti-sickness agent, which has long been known as a remedy against sea sickness or other travel sickness (kinetosis) and also morning sickness in pregnant women (ref4). Chinese women also traditionally take ginger root during pregnancy as a remedy for morning sickness.
Ginger is also recommended for improving the tolerance to certain drugs, such as anti-cancer chemotherapies, for instance those associated with black cumin.
Peppermint is another well-known digestive tonic. It prevents intestinal spasms (spasmolytic) (ref5) and aids digestion, by effectively relieving discomfort (dyspepsia). It is also effective for a number of other intestinal complaints such as irritable bowel syndrome (ref6).
Like ginger, it is also very effective against sickness.
The European Commission recognises the medicinal use of the ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale) in the treatment of gastric disorders (dyspepsia) and as a preventive measure against the nausea caused by travel sickness.
The principal active ingredients in our product are the “CO2 extracts” of peppermint leaves and ginger root. The extraction by CO2 [see definition] is a gentle technical process which enables all the essential oils of the plants, as well as their other extremely fragile components to be retrieved intact, and cold (such as gingerols from ginger for example, which are extremely sensitive to high temperatures).
Definition: Extraction by CO2 (carbon dioxide), a gas which occurs naturally on earth, is a gentle technical process preserving all the principal active ingredients of the plant. It consists of injecting carbon dioxide at high pressure (500bar) into the vessel containing the plants: the gas molecules draw out the active ingredients of the plant which are thus extracted without any solvent residue, since the gas is recovered for eventual reuse. The lipophile molecules (terpenes in particular) are thus not damaged in any way. The high pressure procedure does not require the use of high temperatures, which means that the substance value of the raw material can be maintained at 500bar
