Adrenocorticotropic hormone. ACTH or monitoring hormone.
Mainly secreted by the pituitary gland, ACTH is also produced by certain brain neurons. This hormone regulates sensitivity to stress and anxiety. It makes the patient more attentive, increases concentration and stimulates the memory. It also gives a tanned looked to the skin and plays a role in getting hair to grow back.
The ACTH rate can be stimulated by eating proteins (meet, eggs, fish and particularly poultry) and by taking amino acid supplements in capsules.
