Dry extract or total plant powder |
| “Dry extract” refers to a specific extraction process. The active elements of the plant are extracted from the total powder and the process ensures that the mineral salts, oligo-elements, etc. are preserved. The total plant powder still contains fibres, impurities and various elements that are not at all related with the therapy in question. |
| Plant extracts have several very important advantages: |
| - The content in active substances can be precisely indicated. |
| - Plant extract products are more concentrated than those using total plant powder. A small amount is therefore sufficient for therapeutic purposes (1 or 2 capsules compared to 5 or 6 with the total power). |
| - The assimilation of only the active substances is easier than all the components of a plant. The impurities and fibres to be found in the total power can affect the gastric and intestinal walls. |
| - The use of plant extracts provides a better bacteriological guarantee. |
| - Plant extract products are more fully analysed in the laboratory. |
